What is vegan leather?

Vegan leather and faux leather are the same thing – essentially a fake ‘leather’ material that does not use animal skin.

Is vegan leather plastic?

No, not all of vegan leather is synthetic (plastic). There are two main categories of vegan leather: synthetic leather and natural fibre leather such as coconut fibres, cork, bamboo and Washable Paper.

What is Washable Paper? Why is it also called vegan leather?

Washable Paper is an innovative material, developed from natural plant fibres and guaranteed no harmful substances in the production process from start to finish. It is called vegan leather because it mimics the look and function of genuine leather.

Is Washable Paper biodegradable?

Washable Paper is made of natural cellulose fibre which is completely 100% biodegradable.

Can I wash items in the washing machine? And how often can I wash them?

Is Washable Paper a recent innovative material?

No, actually it has been used in the garment industry for many years. Are you familiar with the tag attached to the waistline of Levi’s jeans? These are the same material!

Is it water resistant?

Yes it is.

The plant fibre that is used to make the Washable Paper, is it responsibly sourced?

Yes. The manufactures of our Washable Paper material hold FSC certification. FSC certification ensures that products come from responsibly managed forests that provide environmental, social and economic benefits.

Is it durable? How long will items last for?

Washable paper is a highly tear resistant material. It will maintain it’s feel and look, it actually looks better as it ages. Just remember Washable Paper is the same fabric as the brown tag on the back of your jeans, testament to how sustainable and washable Washable Paper really is!!
